Caring Sciences is an under-explored research area and new research needs are still being created every day as the development of care techniques and skills evolves rapidly. After all, the prevalence of chronic diseases and multimorbidity is increasing with the aging of the population, thus increasing the acuteness of the investigation of the care produced.
Consequently, the need for new research findings has increased. Among the efforts being made to seek care innovations there is an increased interest in involving care professionals in doctoral level research programs.
The Program is entitled Caring Studies and is academically focused to produce researched Health Professionals with the aim of generating research results and findings on clinical issues of care. The results of this Action are important for Nursing science and Nursing Departments as they will benefit from research and PhD candidates in the program will be able to publish and share research results based on comparative studies of patient care in different health systems, traditions and cultures.
The aim of the program is to prepare PhD candidates for research study and activity in order to mature and develop research protocols on a documented and scientific basis. The language of the doctoral thesis will be English and the duration of the program is set at three years, the minimum, and no tuition fees are provided. The program is full-time and there will be a program of compulsory courses. The compulsory courses are: a) Project Design for Research, b) Systematic Review, g) Statistics, SPSS & Stata.

The doctoral study program aims on the one hand to produce high level original scientific research and on the other hand to create scientists capable of contributing to the advancement of Nursing science, its education and its applications.
The program will provide the opportunity for PhD candidates to develop their research knowledge and develop their scientific thinking to write articles that will lead to innovative solutions, emerging from clinical research in health care issues. In addition, it will aim to provide PhD candidates with research skills, critical thinking, the ability to apply evidence to practice, and the ability to synthesize ideas and theories. This specific program will prepare graduate students to implement effective, safe, and innovative research in a variety of settings, and for multiple and diverse needs. The ultimate goal is for doctoral students to develop the skills of evaluating research results and empirical data, to acquire possibilities of studying the application of research and reflective issues in their scientific – professional field and to develop knowledge of planning and conducting research in the field of Health and Care
